Today, I sadly close one of my blogs. Goodbye to the Chismosang Kapitbahay (pbb2.refineme.org).

Why am I closing my PBB Blog down?

  • I am so late in the news about Pinoy Big Brother 2 already.
  • I hardly have time to update it anymore because of work and other things I have to do.
  • I need to do a clean-up of my space in my domain to make room for other projects.
  • To be totally honest, I am finding PBB Season 2 kind of boring. I actually don’t mind missing it anymore, because nothing interesting is really happening.

Maybe I’ll do another one next time, for the next season, when I have more time. But for now, I’d settle for watching it, reading from the site and reading some of the PBB Blogs out there.

Till then. Goodbye Chismosang Kapitbahay.

I finally got to watch Spider-man 3 earlier, and I watched it with my mom, using the leftover Mother’s Day money our dad sent for us to spend. My mom initially didn’t want to watch it, but she agreed to, and she ended up liking it (even if it is a bit dragging since it’s longer than the past movies).

The journey to finding someone to watch Spider-man 3 with me was a hard journey. I didn’t join the crowds in watching it during the first week. My brother watched it with his girlfriend a few days after its opening, I missed the SFC Spider-man 3 gimmick because it was on a Sunday night, and when I finally saw that it is safe ((By safe, I mean there are less crowds. Have I mentioned that I hate watching movies in a filled up cinema?)) to watch, all people I ask either watched it already, do not want to watch it again, busy, or just did not reply to my invitation.

How sad. I’m such a social loser.

I’d post a picture here later; Ginger ((my laptop :P)) is running out of batteries and the outlet is far away from where the phone line is. But anyway. This song is old school, but it’s never out of date, especially now. :D Mama, this is for you. :)

MAMA
Spice Girls

She used to be my only enemy and never let me be free,
Catching me in places that I knew I shouldn’t be,
Every other day I crossed the line,
I didn’t mean to be so bad,
I never thought you would
become the friend I never had.

Back then I didn’t know why,
why you were misunderstood,
So now I see through your eyes,
all that you did was love,

Mama I love you, Mama I care,
Mama I love you, Mama my friend,
You’re my friend

I didn’t want to hear it then but
I’m not ashamed to say it now,
Every little thing you said and did was right for me,
I had a lot of time to think about,
about the way I used to be,
Never had a sense of my responsibility.

Back then I didn’t know why,
why you were misunderstood,
So now I see through your eyes,
all that you did was love,

Mama I love you, Mama I care,
Mama I love you, Mama my friend,
You’re my friend ,You’re my friend

But now I’m sure I know why,
why you were misunderstood,
So now I see through your eyes,
all I can give you is love,

Mama I love you, Mama I care,
Mama I love you, Mama my friend,
You’re my friend
Your’re my friend

I’m loving you, you loving me
our love thats true and guaranteed.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mama! I love you! ♥ Happy Mother’s Day to all moms out there too. =)

Hello again, ISP Bonanza. Sigh. It’s Day 7 of no DSL, and we’ve called PLDT DSL Hotline four times and every time we call, I have to repeat what was wrong with our DSL (no light for the ADSL link in the modem). We’ve done everything — turn the modem on and off, restart the computer, switch the ends of the phone cable, try repairing it, but it’s still nothing! ARRRRGGGGHHH. The only thing the customer service reps keep on saying to us is, “We’ll forward your report to the technical team and we’ll contact you in the next 24 hours.” Well, you’ve forwarded it thrice already, and I know I’m not bad at Math and I know it’s more than 24 hours; what’s next? Are they even working tomorrow, since it’s elections? Shall we wait until you finally get your butts moving and then still pay the full amount?

Hay. I know from all the posts I’ve read that PLDT DSL (and its customer service) sucks, but I was hoping I would never experience that. Tough luck. What I really don’t get is that
why they don’t go for the faster solution. I really have this strong hunch that our modem is broken and that their network in this area is (not stellar, but) okay. Why not go for the faster solution — can’t they just and try to replace the modem first? If it still doesn’t work, then it is the network. But if it works, then we won’t be bugging them about this anymore! Isn’t this so much easier?

And another suggestion to the customer service of PLDT: give all your “reports” a report reference number, just like what Meralco does. If you give all reports a report number, the subscribers would just have to give that number to you when they do a follow up, and you’d be spared of asking for what the problem is since the report is in the database. Plus, we’d be more assured that you actually forwarded the report. I now wonder if these people really forward the reports at the first time subscribers call them or if all of that is just a big fat lie. Grr.

Okay, I wills top. If you work in PLDT, heads up! I’m not the only one who has this problem.

I’m a little bit late, but I’ve got less than an hour before the clock strikes midnight in Honolulu, Hawaii which is the deadline for this, so I still have time. :P This is my contribution to Darren Rowse‘s Group Writing Project.

I’ve talked about my Great Adventure lots of times, and here’s another post about it. Bo Sanchez said that one thing we should do to make our dreams and ambitions come true is to write it down, because if we only think about it, it’s just what it is: thoughts. Writing them down makes them more concrete, and reading it everyday helps make it come true. So ever since I turned 21, I attached a list to my journal and (try to) read it everyday. The list is far from done, but at least I’ve got started. :P

Here are Top 5 things from my Great Adventure List (in no particular order):

  1. Learn how to jumprope. I used to play lots of jumping games when I was a kid (Ten-Twenty, Chinese Garter) but I never learned how to jumprope. How sad is that? I’ve tried it some time, but I always mix my jumps up (my officemate told me that I lack dexterity or something like that that’s why I have a hard time doing jumps). I want to learn this just because I want to, and I hear it’s a great exercise to lose weight. :p
  2. Get a degree in Creative Writing. The other day, my college thesismate Micko told me about the MA program in our alma mater. I checked out some programs in the College of Liberal Arts and the MA in Creative Writing program made me drool. The first subject (Fiction Writing Techniques) already made my heart quicken — I waaaant! If I didn’t take up Computer Science in college, I would’ve taken up Creative Writing instead. Seeing this MA program in DLSU might be the thing I’ve been waiting for. :D
  3. Travel, travel, travel. Who doesn’t want this? One of my realizations after graduating is that I want to see the world. I want to visit different countries, be able to actually see the things I have only seen in TV/books/magazines/postcards before. I want to travel around the Philippines and the world. While I’m still single, I figure I better start doing this now. I don’t want to settle down until I have been able to travel, you know? Some places in my (growing) list are: [Philippines] Vigan, Batanes, Pagudpud, Ifugao, Bohol, Palawan, Davao (take 2!), Cebu, Albay, Aklan, Mindoro, Sulu; [outside the Philippines] New York City, Florida, California, Australia, Rome, Malaysia, China, Africa, Egypt, India, Israel, Indonesia — that’s just to name a few. :P My target for next year is: Sydney, Australia (MISSION: SYDNEY). Hello, World Youth Day 2008! Hello, Hillsong!
  4. Put up a bookstore. It’s no secret that I love books. A bookstore for me is like a candy shop or toy store to a kid. One time, after a book shopping spree, my mom said, “Why don’t you put up a bookstore?” Which made me think, “Why not?” I have yet to figure out the specifics, but I’ve already got people to dream with me here — right Bea? :)
  5. Drive on my own. It’s been a year since I went for driving lessons, but up to now I still couldn’t drive our car on my own. Well, one reason is because my mom returned my driver’s license to the driving school since it says I’m male instead of female, but the other reason is that…well I’m scared. :-s I know how to drive both manual and automatic (but I have to practice on the manual more), but the only thing closest to real driving I’ve ever done (besides my driving lessons, of course), is to drive the automatic Lancer out of our garage and sometimes, drive home from Sunday mass (with an average speed of less than 40kph and hazard lights turned on :p). I need to drive on my own. I have to! How will I ever get myself a Honda Jazz and name it Betty if I can’t even drive to the nearest mall on my own?!
    .

Well that was fun. Maybe I’d do pick another five soon, or make a progress report on these five things. :P How about you? What are your great adventures?

It’s one and a half hours till quitting time ((Gah. We have 9.6 working hours here. :/ At first I didn’t really mind but after a while you start missing seeing the sun whenever you go out in the afternoon)), and I’m supposed to be writing a service description for this new project but instead, I’m blogging. Bah. My brain still shuts down before 5:00pm — see!

So why am I spending office time blogging? It’s because we’ve had no internet access at home for FOUR DAYS and counting. >:( Sunday, our connection was okay, but starting Monday, we cannot browse any websites at all. We can connect, yes, and in fact, my WiFi connection is even Excellent or Very Good. But when I check the connections, we are not receiving any packets. It’s like for every 1000 packets our computer sends, we only receive 7 packets back.

FYI, our DSL provider is PLDT myDSL. We subscribed to it because it’s “better” than dial-up, and it has been working quite well since November. Sure, there are slow days but they’re pretty manageable, and even if it is slow I could still do some browsing. This is the first time we’ve experienced this, and it’s really, really annoying because it’s been four days and I don’t see any chance of this clearing up soon. Plus, I asked other people who also have DSL and they’re not experiencing the same problem as we have…so what’s wrong? I’ve turned off the modem and the router, disconnected and reconnected and did all sorts of things to have it work…but it’s not. :( Hay.

Yes, that shows how much of an Internet addict I am, and how much I still need the Internet even if I spend it all online all day. :P Thank goodness for Heroes. :P Yay.

But I would have to cut this post for now, because it’s quitting time. :) Wahoo. PLDT Support, you will get a call from me later!

UPDATE (5/11/2007): I called PLDT Customer Service yesterday and it wasn’t such a bad experience (yet). I checked the connection yesterday by connecting my laptop directly to the modem instead of the router and I got Limited or no connectivity, for all LAN cables and LAN ports. I got this checked and they said they’re going to check if the problem is on the network side or the modem. I’m expecting a call today and I hope they do call because it’s the weekend and I need my Internet!

As a way of practicing my writing skills, I opened up this little blog I call Bitesized Fiction. This is inspired by maganda.org‘s fr gm nts, although mine is a bit longer than it should be, I think. :P

Anyway, I put up a couple of entries already, and today I joined 3 Word Wednesday (even if it’s already a Thursday here). Three word Wednesday is:

Each week, I will post three (or more) random words. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to write something using all of those words. It can be a few lines, a story, a poem, anything. I’ll also attempt to write something using the same three words.

Today’s three words are: packed, cozy and anticipation. What I wrote is some sort of an excerpt from my NaNoWriMo 2006 novel, a scene to be placed somewhere near the end. It’s written in third person and it’s barely edited so excuse the wrong grammars, discontinuity and whatnot. :P

FAREWELL

The afternoon sun cast golden rays down the bustling streets of Ortigas. While some of the people got ready to leave their workplaces and others enjoyed a cozy afternoon coffee with some friends, Rain De Castro was in her condominium unit, busy packing her things for her upcoming move-slash-trip to Sydney, Australia. As she stood in the middle of her room, looking thoughtfully at the piles of clothing and other things in her room, the doorbell rang.

Ding dong!

“Come in, it’s open!” Rain yelled from her bedroom, not moving from her spot. She heard the door open and footsteps moving toward her bedroom and stopped at the doorway.

“Wow, and I always thought I was messy,” the newcomer commented. Rain looked up and saw her younger cousin and housemate for the past month, Lissa, clad in her usual black and silver rocker-chick ensemble. She leaned against the white doorframe, lips curved in an amused smile.

I was browsing through LiveJournal and I got to this post via Katia‘s post: Kung Bakit Bad Trip ang Pagtatapos ((Rough Translation: Why graduating isn’t all it’s cracked up to be)). This is a speech given to the University of the Philippines, College of Arts and Letters graduates last April 21, 2007 by Mr. Ben Cabrera, National Artist for the Visual Arts. Reading this made me realize that it’s been a year that I have been out of school. My graduation was held on June 17, so I’m not an official college graduate for a year yet, but I finished school around late April last year.

I’ve mentioned this to some of my friends and also here but let me say it again: I miss college. People say high school is the best years of their life, but I beg to disagree: my college life rocked. It’s probably because college opened my doors to so many new people after being surrounded by people I have known for almost all of my life in elementary and high school. I lived for the change and challenge college brought me, as well as the chance to be a “regular” student and not an overachiever that I was.

Mr. Cabrera listed ten reasons why graduation isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and I’ll post them here (translated) with some comments of a 1-year graduate. :)

I check my SiteMeter and FireStats referrals almost everyday because I am always on the lookout to see whoever gave linklove to my blog (and yes, I’m a bit narcissistic with regards to my blog :p). Jomar once told me that I’d probably see my niche based on my search words…so let’s see what my possible niche is. :P

More to come in Part 2. :P For now I shall go back to watching Heroes (my officemate is right, Heroes is like Pringles: once you pop, you can’t stop!) in one of the same links I posted above.

Oh, and before I go, mind if you take a bite at some Bitesized Fiction? :) Now open!
