Start Here Notebooks

I’m a notebook addict, and my close friends know that. Everytime school starts, the thing I was most excited about are the notebooks. I love the sight, smell and feel of new ones, and being able to have spare notebooks just because thrills me. Ha. :P I think I mentioned it before that I prefer unlined notebooks for my journals? If I didn’t, I said it now: unlined notebooks rule. They’re my top choice for journal writing because each blank sheet represents a blank slate that we all face everyday. Lines are okay, but I feel restricted with them, like I have to always follow them in writing words. Plus it’s no fun to doodle in lined notebooks!

Start Here Notebooks

So imagine my thrill when I saw these notebooks in Lai‘s blog. Presenting Start Here notebooks – the totally blank and unlined notebooks! Start Here sells notebooks that are blank not only inside but also outside. This totally represents what a blank slate is. You are given total freedom what goes not only inside, but on the outside cover of your notebook. You can put pictures, draw, color or sprinkle it with glitters – it’s your call.

Not only that, they’re inter-linkable too. Say you’re using this as your journal and you get to the last page but your entry is no where near finished yet! Just get another Start Here notebook and link it through the cover and you can go on scribbling happily about how your crush noticed you your day. :) Instead of having several volumes for your journal, you can have one big volume with different notebooks interlinked! Aha, you can even write novels here with one chapter per notebook! Of course, those would be really long chapters…but anyway.

Such a really cool concept. :D They also have lined notebooks in different colors (pink, blue, yellow, green, white), as well as a grid-lined notebook and even a planner. They also sell self-adhesive color tabs and pockets so you can mark pages and slip stuff into your notebook.

Unfortunately (sigh), Start Here notebooks are not available locally, so you can only order it online. I’m not sure if they ship their notebooks all the way here. So…to whoever is using or has used Start Here notebooks: how is it?

To quote from their website:

We wanted a fresh start, something to nurture, and make our own. We considered what we love about design: problem solving, functionality, and beautiful aesthetics with purpose. We tried to respect the gap between design and the person who interacts and adds to it.

The emphasis became individuality. We took our philosophy and poured it into Start Here. Clean, basic, white cover notebooks are our expressions of simplicity. More than having that something already made for you, Start Here’s emphasis on simplicity is a small nudge to start a work of your own. We encourage your unique taste, style, personality, and flavor by giving you the space to be yourself.

So what do you really want to do? Here’s a start.

Start Here.

Unlined and lined notebooks cost $14 each, the planner costs $18, three-level notebooks (part unlined, part grid, part lined) costs $16, self-adhesive set (comes in 3) is $5 and self-adhesive tab sets cost $2. Notebook sets are also available in set of 5 color lined notebooks ($55) and set of 2 white lined notebooks ($20).

By the way, this is NOT a sponsored post. I just think this is a really cool thing that’s why I blogged about it. :D And it’s really symbolic too, but I won’t get to that; I’ll probably make this entry so much longer if I talked about that. :P

Start Here notebooks. And again, this is NOT a sponsored post. :)

GK 1MB National Build

February 25, 1986: our parents and grandparents rallied in EDSA to throw a dictator out of presidency and in turn, change the country. It was the change that everyone is waiting for. It was the promise of a new life for our country.

Twenty years later, another group gathered on this day. While everyone else was rallying, blaming the government for the country’s misfortune and while the entire country was in a state of emergency, other people chose a different path and decided not to point fingers of blame but to start doing something more worthwhile, something that actually works.

February 25, 2006. GK1MB is born. 1 Million Heroes, out to help raise the Philippines from poverty. 1 Million Filipinos not joining any rallies, not taking any sides, not pointing any blame, but accepting responsibility and acting on it to bring the country (and everyone else) up instead of down.

Help Pyro Meet Batista!

Pyro is a cute three year old boy who, just like any other boy, likes mocha cake, Spongebob Squarepants and wrestling. However, Pyro is different because of one thing: He is fighting the Big C. Pyro is suffering from lung cancer, and has gone through 8 chemo treatments, 2 major chest surgeries and 30 radiation treatments.

I don’t know Pyro or any of his relatives, but I got to his Aunt’s blog for him and I want to do my share to help. It’s sad to see someone so young suffering from a really bad disease like that, and as much as we want to just take away the disease from him, we can’t…but we can try to make him smile.

So together with the prayers that I am asking you guys who visit my site to give to Pyro in behalf of his family, I’d also like to ask for some help. See, Pyro is a big fan of Batista, the Filipino-Greek WWE Superstar. And it’s just proper timing that Smackdown is going to be held here in the Philippines this October. And if you connect all of that, you’d know that Pyro would love to meet Batista.

If you know how to contact any of Batista’s management or whoever it is that can be contacted so that he would get to meet his idol, please don’t hesitate to contact his Aunt through here and here. Let’s help put a smile on this little boy’s face. :)

Hair + Oil spills = ???

You’ve probably heard of the Guimaras Oil Spill, which is already the worst case of oil spill the Philippines has ever had. In fact, Western Visayas is already in a state of calamity and more oil is still leaking from the sunken vessel. :(

It’s hard that it seems like we can’t do anything…but WE CAN! How? Get a haircut? :)

[Excerpt taken from Yam‘s LJ]

TV Patrol had a short clip about human hair as a solution for oil spills after giving news about the Guimaras catastrophe. This is very interesting. Did you know that around 1.4 million pounds of hair can ‘adsorb’ (not absorb, but adsorb – 11 million gallons of crude oil?! Just think how all the salons in the country can help out. Even barbershops. (I’m serious about this) This is a non-expensive, very feasible way of helping out.

Someone just died today from inhaling too much of the fumes from the oil spill.

CUT IT FOR A CAUSE!

You can donate your hair to help clean the Guimaras waters!!! Please click here for the full story. Time is very precious and the oil slick is spreading so fast that we must take a part in helping out.

Reyes Haircutters are collecting hair and will be delivering them to the disaster area. Philippine International Hairdressers Association is also helping out to address the issue.

So if you’ve been planning a haircut, this is the best time to get it now! Guys, if you can, go shave your heads just this once! Girls, get that flattering cut you’ve been wanting for so long! You’re not only getting a new look, you’re also helping the environment! Go to any Reyes Haircutter branch or the main branch in Anonas, Quezon City, or call +63 2 9136252.

Too bad I don’t need a haircut right now. :-s Unless I find a cut I like. Maybe I’ll look for one. Hmm. Think I would look nice with bangs? That’s a thought. But tell your friends about this! :)

I’ll talk more about the stuff happening in my life tomorrow, before or after the Thursday Thirteen post. Life’s interesting, and it’s a big rollercoaster ride, but who’s complaining? Certainly not me. :p I bet that got you curious. ;) I LOVE YOU LORD! ♥ Yeahbah. :)
