Friday's Feast # 7

I haven’t done this for the longest time, but since today is a Holiday Friday and a good one at that, it’s just right to do some “feasting”. So here we go, my seventh Friday’s Feast. :)

Friday's Feast

Appetizer
When was the last time you were surprised?

Um, this is tricky. I honestly can’t remember. Watching Resident Evil: Extinction was more of shocking than surprising, and I’m pretty sure the surprise here does not mean the “Boo!” kind. As for the birthday kind of surprise…um, two years ago, on my 19th birthday at the YFC tambayan. Simple surprise only. I was supposed to have a thesis defense but it didn’t push through, so I went to the tambayan and was about to go home but my friends kept on asking me to stay…then they started singing Happy Birthday. Sweet. :)

I am still waiting for the I-can’t-believe-you-went-through-all-this-surprise. *hint*

Soup
Fill in the blanks: My eyes are ________, but I wish they were __________.

My eyes are near-sighted, but I wish they were not. I used to think wearing glasses is really cool when I got them, but now I don’t. I wish I took care of my eyesight way back. I didn’t destroy my eyesight because of the computer; I destroyed it because of all the reading I did in poor lighting. Yep, I’d read beside a candle, read lying down, even read in the car in the dark. Ooops. Lesson learned: have proper lighting (seagull lighting looks nice…but is it bright enough?) when reading.

Oh well. I have really nice frames though. ;)

Salad
If you were a Beanie Baby, what would you look like and what would your name be?

I have only one Beanie Baby at home given to me during my 18th birthday. It’s a duck named Quackers. Why? Um…let’s not talk about it. Anyway, interestingly, I only found out about that it’s a Beanie Baby now. Hehe. So if I were a Beanie Baby…can I be a tiger? Or a cat? But I’d rather be a tiger. :) And I’d name myself Rawr. :P

Main Course
Name two things you consistently do that you consider to be healthy habits.

Ahh, the times I try to be healthy. Haha. First off, I drink water immediately after I wake up. I hear it’s healthy, and it’s supposed to reset my metabolism for the day so I get hungry and digest food properly. Another thing I’m trying my best to adopt is not to eat pork. My dad has swown off pork and beef already, but sometimes I still end up eating some (sisig! liempo!), but I try as much not to eat them anymore.

Dessert
What brand of toothpaste are you using these days? Do you like it? Why or why not?

Right now we’re using that Colgate Apple Mint flavor. It’s okay, but it’s too Close Up like for me. I used to like Close Up, but I started liking Colgate more because my mouth feels cleaner afterwards. What I really like is the classic Colgate and the three-stripes one. Gotta love that plain minty-fresh breath! :)

What's on my desktop?

Some semi-mindless meme fun! :D Woooh! Ate Toni tagged me to share how my desktop looks like in this meme. I really liked hers, and I find it funny that she called me highly creative when my desktop is hardly creative at all. Just…fangirly. ;)

Anyway, here’s my desktop:

My Current Desktop

Yes, it’s almost been a month since that night, but the hype about them is not really that over. Or, I’m just too lazy to make my own wallpaper again (but that’s mostly because I can’t run Photoshop here without closing other applications so it won’t make me cry because of it’s slowness ^^; ). Anyway, I found this wallpaper from their Nothing is Sound download page (it’s hidden from their website; I’ll put up the link when I find it again :D). I love how this one looks, because it looks so candid, so relaxed. I love how Jon smiles as he strums his guitar, how Tim looks up to Chad and Drew, as if they just came out to jam with them and how Jerome…wait, Jerome is the only one who looks like he’s posing for a photo. Interestingly, if you look at Drew’s hand, it looks kind of blurred, so maybe it is candid? Sort of.

As for the icon placement…I’m very OC about my desktop and I hate icons cluttering it…this one is still kind of messy for my taste, with the RAR and torrent files on it. I’m just too lazy to organize them just yet. ^^;

Okay after all that blabbing…I must now tag five people. Hmmm. I tag JM, Riz, Fruityoaty, Jun and Joni. :D Instructions (and lots of links) under the cut. :D

That's My Answer! # 4

This is another semi-brainless post (because I’m feeling kind of sick, boo), much thanks to That’s My Answer. This is an answer to their first question for today:

How fidgety are you?

It depends on the situation. When I’m being interviewed or something, I can be fidgety. It would be only after the entire thing when I’d realize how much my hand moved or how my fingers played with the envelope or something that I’m carrying (like for instance, I was at this job interview, and I kept on opening and closing my plastic envelope. I left the office with my envelope’s lip broken :p). And speaking of interviews, I also realized that I don’t maintain straight eye contact. I look at the person’s eyes, then focus on another spot and talk and then look back at the person. Is that weird?

Other instances where I can be fidgety is when I’m really nervous (not when I’m talking to my crush or anyone I’m particularly fond of — I react differently there :p), like when I am supposed to do something but didn’t do it, or when the home lighting on the particular place where I am is too hot or too bright or too annoying. Also when I’m sleepy or excited or something, I tend to fidget a lot.

Hm. So am I a fidgety person? I hope not.

That's My Answer! # 3

I’m trying to get myself to go back to blogging, but if you let me write, I will only write about them. Since I’m supposed to be on detox (even if I am still downloading their bootlegs), I will shush about them. For now. ;)

Anyway, here’s a question:

So, tell us, when do you need soothing? And, what soothes you?

When do I need soothing. Hmm. I’d say everyday, but not really. I’m really not a stressed person, or a stressful person. I do get stressed, but I just end up laughing it off. Or eating it off (now I know where all those flabs came from!).

I guess I need soothing on days when I’m really, really stressed, when I’m feeling all desperate and hopeless. It depends on what the situation is; when I’m really, really frustrated, I obviously need soothing. What kind? It depends as well. A good talk with friends over dinner or coffee usually does the trick. Or getting myself a new book. Or new shoes. Basically shopping. Listening to my favorite songs also helps. I’d travel as far as the Outer Banks, but that is if I have enough money for that (which I don’t).

But then, I’m a pretty easy person to please, so there’s really nothing too difficult to do to be able to de-stress/soothe me. :)

That's My Answer! # 1

Let’s have some mindless fun again before I talk about my long, long book fair day. :) This quick survey is taken from the That’s My Answer meme for September 1. :)

What is the amount of the largest check you’ve ever held in your hands?

Not counting my college tuition fee, the largest amount I’ve ever held in my hands that is actually mine was my first paycheck for our first freelance project. It was actually our thesis, which we sold to a publishing company. They paid my thesismates and I a huge amount of dough, which could definitely buy more than a couple of vessel sinks if only we didn’t spend it for our personal luxuries. ;) Haha. Of course that one’s been a year old already, and it’s been spent…most of it.

As for the project…well, I’d rather not talk about it just yet because it’s another long story which is not something to be talked about yet.

What about you? :)

Friday's Feast # 6

Okay, I just finished a whole lot of training for the past two days and I’m not happy. But mostly because the second training drained me, plus there are all sorts of stresses going around that I hardly know which one to do first. Boo.

But I’m okay! I think. Haha, wait, let me rephrase that — I am okay, period. Now a boxing session please? :) (More about this on the next post :P)

Anyway, I haven’t done Friday’s Feast for the longest time, and because my brain is drained (see the rhyming), I’ll do something like this because it’s sort of mindless. Sort of, but not really.

SEE. Brain drain. 8-}

Who is the easiest person for you to talk to?

– Hm. I know a lot of people I like talking to…but if I had to pick who’s the easiest to talk to…it’s probably Chris, my high school friend. He calls me up every now and then and we’d get to talk about everything under the sun, even something as boring as home furniture. My other high school friend Anthony follows closely, but he’s not the easiest one for the simple fact that we can hardly catch each other on the phone, but only when we’re with Chris.

Soup
If you could live in any ancient city during the height of the quality of its society and culture, which one would you choose?

– Because my brain is tired, I’d probably pick Sumerian civilization. Only because I gave a report about this during high school years. But now that I think about it…Ancient Greece would be a good choice, I guess. Specifically at Athens.

Okay, and again, now that I have thought about it…I’d like to live during the time Jesus lived too. But I wonder how I would’ve treated him…?

Salad
What is the most exciting event you’ve ever witnessed?

– Oh dear. I don’t know. Probably the Hillsong United worship last November? Having a hard time recalling. :P

Main Course
If you were a celebrity, what would you do for a publicity stunt?

– Simply speaking, I’d probably make issues about myself and laugh about it. That’s enough publicity. Haha. Or tell everyone that my driver’s license says that I’m Male instead of Female.
Dessert
What do you consider the ideal age to have a first child?

– 28, I guess? That’s a pretty mature age enough for me. But if that age catches me still travelling and seeing the world, make that 29. :P

I still have so much to do! Actually they’re only a little, but I feel so wound up right now, that I feel like I should be doing something, but I’m not. Bah! Relax, Tina.

Boxing, anyone? ;)

10 Things

My ex-partner and YFC brother Niki tagged me to do this list in his Multiply so I thought I’d write it here instead of there. I used to have this kind of list I entitled All These Things, which I got from an old online friend but I stopped doing it because…well, because I was lazy. I guess making this list is also a part of The Great Adventure, so some of the items in this list would be the same in my first 5 Great Adventures list.

So let’s do this again, shall we? According to the tag, I’m supposed to write 10 things I want to do before I die, and then tag 5 people after. Here we go!

10 Things I Want to do Before I Die

  1. Publish a book. Or two. I consider myself a writer as well as a computer scientist/geek, and I still want to publish a book. Preferably fiction, but I like nonfiction too. I think I’ll go towards the young adult/chicklit genre for the fiction. :P
  2. Travel, travel, travel. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: I want to see the world! I’ve got Sydney up for 2008, for the upcoming World Youth Day (I’ll be putting up a blog for this sometime soon, so watch out for it!) but I also want to go visit other places before I turn 30 or get married (whichever comes first). I want to go backpacking in Europe, go shopping in the streets of Bangkok (for the second time) with my friends, explore the beautiful beaches right here in this hometown, visit different Disney parks in the US and drop by the Big Apple to see if it’s really filled with people and if it’s really everything I’ve read about. Besides all that Heroes watching makes me want to see the city, and yes, including the plastic surgery in Manhattan. The world is waiting! I want to see!
  3. Receive sunflower(s) on my birthday. My favorite flower is a sunflower, and every year I wish for someone to give it to me on my birthday. Still no such luck, but I’m young, I can still wait. Even just one sunflower would be nice. :D
  4. Put up a bookstore/coffee shop. My mom and I have been playing with this idea and I threw this idea to my best friend as well. I love books, I like coffee — so why not start a business that has both? I have yet to think of a way to make that bookstore different — or maybe I should put it up in the province or something. Not a remote province, of course, but on a semi-remote place where there’s no close access to Powerbooks or any bookstore not counting National Bookstore.
  5. And since we’re on the topic of provinces, I want to have my dream house built. My dream house, as I envisioned it a year ago, would be in the semi-remote province (Tagaytay?). It’s a two-storey house with spacious rooms. No TVs in the bedrooms, only in the family room and there’s going to be a library/study and a prayer room. The house will be built on a huge yard where there’s room for a flower garden on the side (with a big sunflower patch!) as well as a swingset for the kids. And surrounding the house should be white picket fence. :P
  6. Fall in love, get married and have a beautiful family. Enough said. :P
  7. Raise enough money for a GK house and help build it.
  8. Be a missionary. In what way, only God knows. :)
  9. Send a kid to school.
  10. Be surprised on my birthday. As in the Oh my gosh, I can’t believe you went through all this kind of surprise. :P
    .

There’s more, but I’ll stop here or else I might blab the whole day. :) Anyway, I’m tagging…well, I’m really not in the mood to tag anyone. :P If you feel like getting this survey, then consider yourself tagged. Come on, it’s fun to write things like this. :P

Now I’m off to help my mom clear up on her just concluded dinner with her CFC friends. :) Good night!

6 Weird Things

This is an overdue meme tag from Mae, who asked me to share 6 weird things about me (who thinks of these things, anyway?). I actually had a hard time, even if I had a lot of weird aspects. Haha. So let’s see. Hmmm. Okay. Let me warn you, I’m a really weird girl. :P

  1. I eat with a small spoon and fork. It started when I was a kid, when the spoon and fork I brought for school is small. Ever since then, I felt like big spoons do not fit in my mouth even as I grew up. Until now I’m still using a small set of spoon and fork. I can use big utensils, but at home I always use the small set. :)
  2. Whenever there is a special occasion, I like my hair to be extra soft. My hair is my vanity point and a bad hair day can make my day in a not so good mood. So whenever there is a special occasion, I take the pains to condition my hair properly and blow dry it if I have time.
  3. I can sleep even in the noisiest place. I’m not a night owl. The moment I feel sleepy, I feel sleepy, period. I remember one time, I was at a YFC Echo Conference, our tent was the one nearest to the speakers and during the party at night, while everyone was out partying, I was sleeping soundly in the tent. There was also another time when South Border was playing during a YFC ILC, and while everyone was up front watching the band, I was sitting comfortably on a row of seats, napping. :P
  4. I can stay awake the longest, though. Yes, as much as I can sleep in the noisiest place and I am not a night person, I can stay awake the longest if I have to. Or if I want to. I’m not exactly a masa (as in masandal tulog ((Rough Translation: Can fall asleep even while just leaning on anything)) ), so I can stay awake and then crash when I let my body relax. I can’t pull two nights of no sleep though. One is enough, thank you.
  5. I always eat my fries first whenever I eat in fastfood. I noticed it just recently, that whenever I eat out in any fast food restaurant and eat anything with fries, the fries go first before my burger or the others. I eat 3/4 of the fries and then eat the burger (or whatever it is) and finish the rest of the fries off. :P
  6. I talk to my computer. The fact that I name my gadgets is geeky enough but talking to my computer — that’s something I’m guilty of. :P It started in college during our Java class, while doing our machine project. I talk to my computer when it’s acting up — like when it’s hanging, or if my program is buggy. I even pat and rub my laptop, Ginger, when it’s slowing down because of all the programs I’m running on its poor 256MB SDRAM. :P So if you see me mumbling something to my computer, don’t mind me. :P

It’s late, and I’m not in the mood to tag people anymore, so…this would stop on me I guess. Okay, if anyone’s interested, consider yourself tagged. :P

Good night world. Tuesday tomorrow, and it will be a good day. It. Will. Be. A. Good. Day. Dear Lord, please let it be okay.

Friday's Feast # 3

Thank God it’s Friday! ♥ Aren’t you happy it’s Friday already? I am, very much! Wohoo! But I’m sorta out of cash, so it’s not that happy happy, but it’s okay since it’s FRIDAY! Nothing really special planned, except to go out for coffee later and watch TV this weekend. Wohoo.

Bring on the Feast! Let’s get eating (I have Cheez Curls here — want some?)!

Friday's Feast

Appetizer
Name a sound you like to hear.

– I like the sound of Christian music. Oh, wait, you mean individual sounds? Okay, I love the sound of rain. Not the hard, storm-like rain but the gentle pitter-patter of raindrops on the rooftop or on the windowsill. Couple that up with a cold afternoon, good TV or good book and good music, ahhh. :)

I also love the sound of the waves crashing over the beach. Also the sound of kids laughing as they play. Weirdly enough, I also like hearing babies crying. Not because I get a sick satisfaction knowing that they are suffering or their parents are being disturbed but because whenever I hear them cry, it feels like there’s so much life. I’m weird that way.

Soup
What is your favorite kind of cheese?

– I’m not really that particular with my cheese but I have to admit that I’ve been putting more cheese on the food I eat lately — as in cheese in tuna sandwiches, cheese in egg sanwiches, cheese omelette, etc. Can I give three? I like cheddar (with the three things I mentioned above), cream cheese (on toasted wheat bread or on plain crackers or in cheesecakes) and parmesan cheese (on pasta…yum!).

Salad
Do you sleep late on Saturday mornings? Why or why not?

– Somewhere in between? I usually wake up at 9:00am, which is late with regards to my waking up at 6:00am on weekdays. But I don’t like waking up past 10:00am not only because my neck and back hurts from the sleeping, but also because I feel like I’ve wasted half my day doing nothing. I guess I’m more of a morning person than a night owl.

Main Course
When was the last time you forgot something? What was it, and how long did it take to remember it?

– As for an object…sometimes this week, I forgot to bring a handkerchief to work. I remembered it when I was already out of the house. Oops. Other than that…nothing. But I’m usually a forgetful person especially on short term things (I have better long term memory), but nothing major yet. :P

Dessert
Fill in the blank: I notice ____________ when _____________.

– I notice guys when they’re really cute they get along with their siblings well. I can’t think of anythin else. But what I wrote is true! Promise!

I am such in a silly mood. 8-} I must finish this report my boss is asking me to finish before the day ends. Happy Friday everyone!
