Achieving Weeknights

Achieving weeknights

Weeknights are always times when I would rather go home and sleep, where I would rather go to the gym then go home and rest and read and just get ready for the next day, counting the hours until the weekend comes and I get to see them in a proper time.

But there are other times when weeknights become a bit more special, when I break out of routine and my way and meet up with some of the most awesome people I know. Most of them are friends I met from different walks of life who just happened to meet together at one place and end up having dinner together. Friends of friends are a good combination based on experience, and it’s really cool when these people merge and  become good friends like you are with them too (and it’s also cool when they bring their own friends who become a part of the group eventually!). :D

So here’s to weeknights that ACHIEVE. :)

Welcome to Quarter Life

Also known as: The Twenty-Fifth Birthday Celebration

I apologize for the late post — as usual, work took over my life and it didn’t stop even during my birthday. It’s kind of stopping now, thank goodness, and I find it kind of strange that it took me up until the end of March to blog about my birthday. Usually I do that on the day itself, or at least, a few days after.

Maybe this is a sign of aging.

Anyway. My 25th birthday started a little early when I met up with one of my best friends, Happy, for a one-on-one girl talk. That’s where I got my first cake of the day, the Starbucks Cake Pop (which was awesome, by the way). I got home before midnight, and then the greetings started pouring in. :)

Cookie says "Happy birthday!"

I stayed awake a little bit more to answer some messages and answer a phone call from Dodge before going to bed. Then the real fun started.

Also known as: The epic pre-birthday Pinatubo trip

I wasn’t planning on any trip for the month of March because March is usually the busiest month of my year, being my birth month and all. But my best friend had other ideas and decided to invite us all to go trek to Mt. Pinatubo.

Like I said, I wasn’t really planning a trip, so I thought of passing on this one because I usually have to many things going during March. But after my friends started confirming that they were joining the trek, I realized that if I don’t go there now, I may never be able to go there again because the people I usually go on trips with have already gone. Of course, I can always go alone or I can find another group to go with…but it’s really so much fun to be with these people.

And so I went. It could be a pre-birthday trip.

Trust my luck that I was on midshift the night before. I got off work as early as I can, met up with Happy, stayed up late talking then headed to the meeting place at 3 in the morning. No sleep, all ready to trek.

I know, it sound like a very bad decision, right? Especially when they asked us if we wanted to go do the shorter 30-minute trek for with an additional fee and we refused. Come on! It’s supposed to be a trek! It’s supposed to be long, climbing rocks, crossing rivers and all that! We refuse to go the 30 minute trek — we want the 2-3 hour one! We’re hardcore!

Yep, kind of a bad decision.

Welcome to Pinatubo, says Cookie.
